Give Back to Those in Need This Brain Health Month

As we approach our advanced years, brain-health concerns become more relevant. Unfortunately, few of us will be lucky enough to dodge them completely. So it's essential to take care of your brain health throughout your youth, and we have shared a ton of tips this month on how you can live a lifestyle and eat for brain longevity. 

To honor Brain Health Month, do more than just take care of your brain, and give back to Mental Health charities. 

The following is a shortlist of organizations that raise awareness for mental health concerns and provide support and resources for those afflicted. 

1. Mental Health America

Founded in 1999, Mental Health America is the country's leading organization dedicated to serving the needs of those with brain-related disorders. It is both non-profit and community-based. MHA is a leader when it comes to brain health advocacies, support, and recovery.

2. National Institute of Mental Health

The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) is the largest scientific organization that funds research, understanding, treatment, and prevention of brain-related disorders. The NIMH also conducts outreach programs to other mental health institutions and organizations. 

3. Child Mind Institute

The Child Mind Institute provides aid for children and their families, especially when it comes to learning disorders and other mental health problems that primarily affect the youth. Due to the stigma that kids are supposed to just "outgrow" their mental health problems. Their goal is to have readily available or accessible treatments and other mental health services for children in need.

4. The American Brain Foundation

The goal of the American Brain Foundation is to bring researchers and donors together to help treat and cure brain-related health problems and disorders. They have been established for over 30 years and have funded mental health research dedicated to improving existing treatments, prevention, and cure. They are proud to say that the organization is primarily powered by charity. They have granted over $33 million to research and provided funding and scholarships to more than 270 researchers.

5. Attention Deficit Disorder Association

As their name implies, the Attention Deficit Disorder Association (ADDA) focuses on those who have problems concentrating or just doing one thing at a time for long periods, with a particular focus on adults. They are an international non-profit organization with more than 30 years of service to adults who desire to live a higher quality of life. 

6. Rethink Mental Illness

The Rethink Mental Illness organization was founded almost 50 years ago by people who had loved ones afflicted with mental health disorders. Their goal is to represent those who have brain health problems and to advocate for their rights, well-being, fair treatment, and equal treatment in society. They are also among the largest mental health organizations globally, offering a diverse range of services, including advocacy, career support, community support, legal help, employment, and online help.
